One arrested for kidnapping and raping a minor in Mumbai

Mumbai (Maharashtra) (India), July 31 (ANI): A man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and raping a 7-year-old girl in Mumbai’s Aarey area.

Based on the testimony of the girl’s mother, the accused was arrested.

According to police, the 22-year-old accused was arrested under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

During the investigation, it emerged that the underage victim was playing outside with the neighbors’ children while her mother was sitting in front of the house. The victim’s mother knew the accused and wanted to bring him something, but could not find her daughter when she came out of the house.

The accused kidnapped the victim from Kurla and took her to Aarey forest. After hearing her screams, the local residents informed the police.

The accused will remain in police custody until Saturday.
