The woman, in her 30s, was admitted to Poole General Hospital just before 6am on Sunday 28 July with injuries to her face and wrist.

According to a police spokesman, she told people at the hospital that she had been the victim of a “serious sexual assault.”

Police investigations revealed that she was allegedly attacked in the Haskells recreation area in Newtown, Poole, late on the evening of 27 July.

On Sunday afternoon, a police cordon and crime scene investigators were spotted at a property on Ringwood Road in Poole.

So far, officers have not made any arrests.

The Dorset Police spokesman said: “The victim is being cared for by specially trained officers and a full investigation has been launched into this incident.

“Police presence in the area will be increased as investigations are conducted and officers may be approached by members of the public with information or concerns.”
