Nicholas Hoskin of El Cajon was arrested in Colorado on July 22 following the fatal hit-and-run crash involving Brian Colvin.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man suspected of beating and killing another man in Lemon Grove last week has been arrested in Colorado, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reports.

Nicholas Hoskin, 45, of El Cajon, is currently in police custody and is charged with the death of Brian Colvin, 44, of Spring Valley, following a hit-and-run crash on July 22.

Hoskin is accused of striking Colvin in the 8300 block of Broadway at 2:15 a.m. Hoskin was conscious and breathing when officers arrived, but later died at the hospital.

Witnesses at the scene told authorities that a man was standing in the roadway talking to the occupants of a vehicle when, for reasons unknown to police at the time, the vehicle accelerated, intentionally struck the man and fled the scene, according to the sheriff’s initial report.

Hoskin was identified as a suspect by sheriff’s homicide detectives and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested Thursday by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Major Offender Task Force in Grand Junction, Colorado and is awaiting extradition to San Diego County.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is now asking the public for help in locating the vehicle suspected of being involved and has released the following photos of a white 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4X2 with chrome trim, running boards, mud flaps and a trailer hitch with the California license plate 51340A2.
