Driver suspected of hitting man in Lemon Grove arrested

Sheriff’s investigators have arrested a driver suspected of intentionally hitting a 44-year-old man with a pickup truck in Lemon Grove last week.

Nicholas Hoskin, 45, was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of Brian Colvin, 44, who was fatally struck by a car on Broadway near Sweetwater Way on July 22, officials said Monday.

According to Homicide Lt. Michael Krugh, Colvin was standing on the street in front of the pickup truck, talking to the occupants, when the driver accelerated a few seconds later and hit him.

The pickup truck has not been found, Krugh said. It was described as a white 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 with chrome trim, running boards, mud flaps and a trailer hitch. Its license plate is 51340A2.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the incident or the pickup location to call the Homicide Unit at (858) 285-6330 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
