In late July, Park City Police received a number of reports of moose sightings in residential areas, as wildlife sightings continue to occur even in the middle of summer.

The cases included:

• On Sunday, July 28, at 6:49 p.m., police received information about a moose, described as injured, on Daystar Circle. Police were told a moose calf was also at the location.

• On Friday, July 26, a cow moose and calf were seen in a front yard on Sun Ridge Drive at 9:17 p.m. The older animal was described as injured and “dragging its left hind leg behind it,” police reports say.

• On Monday, July 22, a cow moose and calf were reported in Sandstone Cove at 5:24 p.m. The person who contacted police stated the animals “lived on their street,” according to public police logs.

• On July 22 at 1:24 p.m., a moose was reportedly spotted outside a building on Park Avenue. The animal was not aggressive, police were told.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, July 23, at 1:41 a.m., police received a tip about a driver swerving on Park Avenue to avoid a collision with a deer before hitting a curb, causing damage to the vehicle.

The police often receive reports of wild animals and moose sightings are regularly recorded by the authorities.
