Crime statistics for Jackson released by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation

JACKSON, Tennessee – The latest crime data for the city of Jackson has been released.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has released its crime statistics for Jackson for 2022.

As for violent crime statistics, there were 10 murders this year, which was 9% less than the year before. The number of sexual crimes without consent also decreased by 9%, with a total of 56 cases recorded. Finally, there were 550 cases of serious assault, which represents a decrease of 0.5%.

In the property crime category, robberies increased by 16%, with a total of 58 cases. Burglaries increased by almost 7%, with 278 cases. Car theft decreased by almost 8%, with most cases occurring at night. In total, there were 660 fraud cases, an increase of 13% from 2021.

With a slight increase of almost 2%, there were 107 drunk driving cases. Most of these occurred in April, July or October. Drug and narcotics violations saw a sharp decrease of 12%, mainly marijuana. There was also a 12% decrease in gun violations.

In the latest TBI statistics, domestic violence saw by far the biggest decline, with 63% fewer cases than in 2021. There were 390 cases in total. From 2018 to 2021, there were over 1,000 cases in total.
