1 dead after accident in Fresno County | YourCentralValley.com

COALINGA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to the CHP, around 8 a.m. Sunday, a driver driving a Toyota Corolla was traveling north on Highway 269 and approached Jayne Avenue at an unknown speed.


The driver of a Hyundai Accent was traveling south on Highway 269 and stopped at a sign at Jayne Avenue. As the driver of the Toyota approached the intersection, he failed to stop at the sign and drove through the intersection, according to the CHP.

According to the CHP, the driver of the Toyota left the northbound lane and the left front of the Toyota struck the left front of the Hyundai.

The driver of the Hyundai died as a result of the accident.

The identity of the deceased person was not disclosed by the authorities.

According to the CHP, the accident is still under investigation and alcohol does indeed appear to have played a role.
