ASP arrests man after incident of aggression behind the wheel on I-40

MAUMELLE, Arkansas – An Arkansas man was arrested after being involved in a DUI incident on Interstate 40.

According to reports, officers were called shortly before 6 p.m. on July 24 after a witness reported seeing two vehicles traveling quickly and erratically on I-40 westbound.

When troopers arrived at the scene of the crash on I-40, they were able to locate and stop both vehicles in Maumelle. They determined that the driver of one of the vehicles, 47-year-old Charles Pope of Mayflower, had intentionally struck another vehicle driven by a 36-year-old woman from Little Rock.

Pope was arrested and taken to the Pulaski County Detention Center. He is charged with aggravated assault. If convicted, he faces six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
