Jalapenos, green peppers and green beans sold at Aldi recalled – 102.3 KRMG

The US Food and Drug Administration has announced the recall of jalapenos, green peppers and green beans from some Aldi stores.

The FDA stated that the recall was initiated because the vegetables may be contaminated with listeria.

The recall affects the following items:

  • jalapeno, 8 oz. Bag with UPC 4099100087680
  • Green Peppers, 3-pack with UPC 4099100087598
  • Green Beans, 16 oz. bag of UPC 4099100087826

They were sold by Wiers Farm, Inc. and RS Hanline Co. Inc. in some Aldi stores in Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

If you own the recalled items, you will be asked to throw them away or return them to an Aldi store and receive a full refund.

Listeria is a bacteria that can cause listeriosis. Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches and gastrointestinal problems that last from several days to several weeks, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

Every year, about 1,600 people become infected with the virus and 260 die.

Pregnant women, newborns, people over 65 and people with weakened immune systems can become ill.
