Weather warning: Dangerous heat on Tuesday |

We have issued a weather warning for dangerous heat and humidity on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s high temperatures in the 90s and miserably high humidity will result in afternoon heat index peaks of 100-105 degrees across much of the Local 6 area. Heat index readings will likely climb above 100 degrees as early as 10 a.m. and remain in the triple digits through 7 p.m.

It is possible that heat warnings will continue throughout the region through the end of the week, with little improvement expected through the weekend. Heat index values ​​may continue to reach 105-110°+ each afternoon through Friday.

Be sure to take steps to prevent heat exhaustion if you must be outdoors. Stay hydrated, wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing, and take frequent breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned environment. Be sure to check the back seat…don’t forget any children or pets in your vehicle. Check on friends or neighbors who don’t have access to adequate cooling. And make sure pets have plenty of water and shade if they must stay outside.
