Breaking down the Buffalo Sabres schedule for January 2025

After wrapping up the 2024 season, the Buffalo Sabres will turn the page to 2025. As part of their road trip to St. Louis and Dallas, Buffalo will be in Colorado to see the Avalanche for the final time in 2024/25. Two nights later, they will see Jack Eichel and the Vegas Golden Knights. Casey Mittelstadt and Eichel will both play their former clubs during that two-game stretch for the Sabres.

Buffalo will then host the Washington Capitals for one game. After a brief stint in Ottawa, the Sabres will play three games at home. First, they will face the Seattle Kraken, who Buffalo finally defeated for the first time in its history last season.

To wrap up the home series, Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins will head to town. Once again, the Sabres will hit the road for a four-game trip. First, Buffalo will travel to the Pacific Northwest to wrap up its season series against the Kraken.

Next, they’ll head to Western Canada. The next night, they’ll face the Vancouver Canucks. Two nights later, they’ll face the Calgary Flames. Before heading home, the Sabres will face the Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers in an early-night game on Saturday.

To close out January, Buffalo will play two home games. They will host the Boston Bruins before hosting the dangerous Nashville Predators, who have improved considerably over the offseason. Given the schedule, it will be a real challenge. With two trips to the West, the Sabres will have to manage their fatigue.

Of the 13 games they’ll play this month, eight of those opponents will be against teams that were in the playoffs last year.
