Driver killed in crash in Newbury, VT, police say

A Newbury man was killed in a fatal early morning crash Sunday, police said. Vermont State Police were notified of the crash shortly after 5:30 a.m. and responded to Wallace Hill Road. Investigators said 22-year-old Daniel Sweet was traveling northbound when his Jeep Wrangler left the road just after the intersection with Start Trail and rolled over. The crash ejected Sweet from the vehicle. He died from injuries sustained in the crash, police said. Members of the Newbury Fire Department and Woodsville EMS also arrived at the scene. The crash is under investigation. Anyone with additional information that could assist police is asked to contact the St. Johnsbury barracks at 802-748-3111. The crash was the second fatal crash in Vermont on Sunday, after two Massachusetts residents died in a fiery crash on Interstate 89 the same morning.

A Newbury man was killed in a fatal crash early Sunday morning, police said.

The Vermont State Police were notified of the accident shortly after 5:30 a.m. and responded to Wallace Hill Road.

Investigators said 22-year-old Daniel Sweet was driving north when his Jeep Wrangler left the road and overturned just after the Start Trail intersection.

The impact ejected Sweet from the vehicle and he died from the injuries he sustained in the accident, police said.

Members of the Newbury Fire Department and Woodsville Ambulance also arrived at the scene.
