Police arrest suspect after break-in at state office building in Hartford – NBC Connecticut

State police have arrested a Pennsylvania man accused of breaking into a state office building in downtown Hartford on Sunday evening.

State police responded to the building at 165 Capitol Avenue in Hartford around 5:11 p.m. after an alarm went off and found someone had entered the building through a metal gate via a utility area underneath the building, according to state police.

They arrested a 43-year-old man from Shillinton, Pennsylvania, and found no one else in the building.

According to state police and the state Department of Administrative Services, the suspect caused damage to the building’s utility line, causing power outages and the failure of other systems, including elevators.

He is charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree trespassing, first-degree criminal damage and possession of burglary tools.

His bail was set at $50,000.

The State Office for Administration is closed on Monday.
