After a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in Middleton, police cordoned off an area.

In the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday 28 July), officers were called to the scene on Boarshaw Road after receiving “reports of concerns for the welfare of a woman”.

An area was cordoned off from the main road. The cordoned off area was near the junction with Bardsley Street.

Officers believe the woman was sexually assaulted and is currently receiving support from specialist officers.

No arrests have been made so far.

In a statement, a GMP spokesman said: “At 12.30am yesterday (July 28) we were called to a call regarding concerns for the welfare of a woman on Boarshaw Road in Middleton. It is believed the woman may have been sexually assaulted.”

“She is being assisted by specially trained officers and the crime scene is prepared while we conduct further investigations. No arrests have been made so far.”
