3 members of a gospel group killed in Wyoming

Three members of the Atlanta gospel group The Nelons were killed in a plane crash near Gillette, Wyoming. on Friday.

According to a statement from Gaither Music Management Group, the popular gospel music family was en route to the Gaither Homecoming Cruise in Alaska.

Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant Melodi Hodges were killed in the crash. Pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa were also among the fatalities, the statement said.

“As many of you have heard by now, my father and mother, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, along with my sister Amber and brother-in-law Nathan, and our dear friends Melodi Hodges, Larry and Melissa Haynie, were involved in a tragic plane crash on Friday,” Autumn Nelon Streetman, daughter of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, said in a statement. “Thank you for the prayers that have already been extended to me, my husband Jamie and our soon-to-be-born son, as well as Jason’s parents Dan and Linda Clark. We appreciate your continued prayers, love and support in the days ahead.”

NTSB investigates plane crash

The leadership group also said the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the accident.

The NTSB’s preliminary report states that a Pilatus PC-12/47E impacted the ground at approximately 1:04 p.m. MDT on Friday. The exact details of the crash are still under investigation.

“The investigation is still in the very early stages and there is not a lot of information available yet,” NTSB media relations officer Keith Holloway told USA TODAY. “All I can say is that the NTSB team is expected to be on site today.”
