Albany resident arrested for illegal possession of weapons

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) — The Albany County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of an Albany resident following a traffic stop. El Jahad Vickers, 25, was charged with second-degree illegal possession of a weapon.

According to the sheriff’s office, a traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of Central Avenue and Colby Street around 8:40 p.m. on Sunday after a traffic violation was observed. Officers said their investigation revealed that the passenger of the car, identified as Vickers, was carrying a loaded semi-automatic weapon.

The sheriff’s office says Vickers had no right to possess the gun and also had an Albany City Criminal Court warrant out for his arrest for strangulation. Vickers was taken to the Albany County Correctional Facility and will be arraigned on Monday.
