Officials in Jerusalem said on Monday that Britain was likely to suspend the issuing of export licenses for arms sales to Israel in the coming days.

Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer has already raised concerns about the intention of International Criminal Court chief prosecutor Karim Khan to issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.

Israeli officials believe the UK’s decision follows last week’s ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that Israel’s “occupation” of Palestinian territories violates international law.

This policy change in Britain came after the Labour government came to power, defeating Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party.
