Police investigate shooting at South LA intersection

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday evening at a South Los Angeles intersection.

According to Los Angeles police, it happened around 7:45 p.m. in the 400 block of East 51st Street and Avalon Boulevard.

Officers were initially called to the scene because there were reports of a shooting in the area.

As SkyCal flew over the crime scene, over a dozen evidence markers were visible on the road near the crime scene tape surrounding the area.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took one person to the hospital. Their condition and the nature of their injuries were initially unclear.
