Suspect in Salina shooting in custody, deputies say

Salina, NY – The suspect in a shooting incident was arrested Sunday after leading police on a foot chase in Salina, officials said.

At around 7:45 p.m., a caller to 911 reported that she had been shot on Noble Avenue in the city of Salina, according to Onondaga County 911 reports.

The dispatch center informed police that the shooter ran away on Taft Avenue.

The suspect was later taken into custody after leading officers on a short foot chase, according to Thomas Newton, a spokesman for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office. After arresting the suspect, officers recovered a handgun, Newton said.

The shooting incident remains under investigation, Newton said.
