Air Quality Warning with Code Orange for the Pittsburgh region on Monday

NICE AND RELAXED HERE AS WE WORK THROUGH THIS LAST WEEKEND OF JULY. IF YOU’RE A SUMMER FAN YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO FLY. YOU CAN STAY HOME AS TEMPERATURES WILL RISE IN THE AFTERNOON. IN FACT WE’RE EXPECTING DAY 15 OF THE SEASON OF 90 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON IN PITTSBURGH. YOU CAN SEE MANY PLACES SOUTH OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY HAVING TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 90S. IF YOU DON’T HAVE 90 DEGREES TODAY YOU’LL GET VERY CLOSE TO IT. AND WE’LL SLOWLY START INTRODUCING A LITTLE HUMIDITY AS WELL. OF COURSE, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. TAKE A LITTLE BREAK FROM THE LAST COUPLE, IT WAS STILL DARK AND IT WAS EARLY WHEN WE LOOKED OUT OVER DOWNTOWN THIS MORNING ON AN ACTION CAM. BUT YOU’LL ONLY NOTICE A LITTLE OF THAT EARLY MORNING LIGHT AS WE GET CLOSER TO OUR SUNRISE HERE IN THE NEXT HOUR. THE HIGH PRESSURE AREA IS STILL UNDER CONTROL, BUT IT IS ADVANCED ACROSS PARTS OF NEW YORK STATE. A LITTLE WIND SHIFT FOR US BACK OVER WEST PAINT SO WE’LL BRING IN A LITTLE MORE WARMTH AND ULTIMATELY A LITTLE HUMIDITY AS YOU WORK THROUGH YOUR SUNDAY, THE FUTURECAST LOOKS RELATIVELY CALM THROUGHOUT THE DAY. MAYBE JUST A FEW CLOUDS MAY COME UP IN THE AFTERNOON. BUT THAT’S JUST THE USUAL OF A SUMMER DAY AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE NIGHT. CLOUDS WILL BUILD UP FROM THE SOUTH WITH OUR FIRST OF SEVERAL SMALL SYSTEMS TRYING TO FORCE THROUGH TO START THE NEW WORK WEEK. ALONG WITH THE CLOUDS, WE WILL ALSO SEE SOME SPOKEN SHOWERS, POSSIBLY A ROLL OF THUNDER AND AN EMBEDDED DROOP AS WE MOVE INTO THE AFTERNOON. BUT OVERALL THE SHADING LOOKS TO BE PRETTY SPOKEN AND IT WILL ALL DISAPPEAR WITH THE LOSS OF DAYLIGHT TOMORROW EVENING AND THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. BUT WE WILL SEE MORE RAIN AS THE WEEK LAST PERIOD COMES ON. IT LOOKS LIKE TUESDAY WILL OFFER THE BEST OPPORTUNITY FOR RAIN REGIONALLY, BUT NO LOCATION WILL BE WETTER THAN OTHERS. THIS IS AN UNUSUAL BUSINESS. JUST REGULAR RAIN COMING OUT. CERTAINLY SOME MUCH NEEDED RAIN AS WE HAVE BEEN VERY DRY ALL SUMMER SEASON. IN FACT, SOME AREAS IN WASHINGTON GREEN, ALSO FAYETTE AND WESTMORELAND COUNTY ARE BATTLING WITH SOME MODERATE, EVEN SEVERE DROUGHT, AND THAT ORANGE SHADE IS BEGINNING TO APPEAR IN SOME AREAS DIRECTLY EAST OF US. SO WE’LL TAKE ANY RAIN WE CAN GET AT THIS TIME. BUT IT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE THE RAIN WE’RE GETTING THIS WEEK IS GOING TO PREVENT THE DROUGHT, SO WE’RE CERTAINLY JUST TRYING TO HELP THE DEFICIT TODAY. LOTS OF SUNSHINE, HOTTER THAN YESTERDAY AT 92, AND IT WILL GET GAY THROUGHOUT THE DAY. AND THE GAY FEELING WILL STAY TONIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL FALL TO NEARLY 70 BELOW…MORNING SUNSHINE WILL GIVE WAY TO CLOUDS AND FINALLY AN AFTERNOON RAIN. TOMORROW, TUESDAY, 85, WITH OUR BEST CHANCE FOR RAIN OF THE WEEK. BUT EVEN THOUGH, COVERAGE SEEMS TO BE PRETTY SECRET AS WE CONTINUE WITH SIMPLIFIED RAIN ON WEDNESDAY. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET AWAY FROM MENTION OF RAIN UNTIL THURSDAY, STILL, AND YOU’LL FIND THAT WE’RE MOVING INTO THOSE FIRST DAYS OF AUGUST. LATER IN THE WEEK, LOOKING TOWARDS NEXT WEEKEND, IT’S GOING TO BE HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT. So, the dog days of summer continue as temperatures stay warm and dew points, meaning humidity, stay high as we flip the calendar to August. That sounds good. Yeah, but I’m kind of hoping for that rain because I’m sick.
