St. Clair County man killed in crash on I-59

ETOWAH COUNTY, Alabama (WIAT) – A Steele man was killed in a car crash on I-59 in Etowah County Sunday afternoon, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Douglas Loveless, 35, was fatally injured when the Nissan Sentra he was driving left the road, struck a tree and rocked an embankment. Loveless, who was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred at 2:42 p.m. about five miles north of Gadsden. Officers from the ALEA Highway Patrol Division are investigating.
