Anna Nicole Smith “was gender neutral before the world had a term for sexual identity”

Anna Nicole Smith is said to have been “genderfluid” before there was a term for this sexual identity in the world.

The late model Anna died of combined drug poisoning in 2007. She married oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II in 1994, when he was 89 and she was 26. However, her friends have now come forward and spoken about her other same-sex relationships.

Anna’s boyfriend, fashion designer Pol Atteu (57), who made many of her clothes, told People that his old friend was neither heterosexual nor homosexual: “I would say she was fluid. We just didn’t have a name for it back then.”

Another friend of hers, Ashley Wells Lewis, added to the magazine that she had always wanted love: “She spent her life looking for a happily ever after.”

When Anna J. married Howard, it was her second marriage and his third.

But her friend Missy Byrum, who appears in the new Netflix documentary “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me,” told People that their wedding was unofficial.

She talked about their secret lesbian relationship and their wedding “in the garden by the pool” in 1993: “We became lovers, you know? And I mean, a really sober couple – it was a conscious thing.”

“She said she loved me. We had both been through some bad relationships with men. We came to the conclusion that we just didn’t need men.

“She gave me a set of wedding rings and we got married in the backyard by the pool with champagne.

“I wore the rings. She wanted me to have a baby with her. But I always knew it would never work out. Because she would never, ever settle down with one person.”

Melissa added: “I wasn’t (Anna’s) first lover. But I knew it wouldn’t last. She needed more love than one person could give her.”

Melissa said her relationship with Anna fell apart because of the model’s addiction to painkillers.

Anna was accused of marrying J. Howard in order to inherit his fortune after his death. She always denied these allegations.

Melissa backed up her claim, saying, “She really loved him. The way he cared for her and looked after her – she cared deeply about him.”

“She didn’t want people to think she was after his money. (Her) Aunt Kay and I both said, ‘If you love him, it doesn’t matter what people think!'”

J. Howard died in 1995 and Anna, who had married chef Billy Wayne Smith at the age of 17, did not remarry after his death.
