AEW lifts Sammy Guevara’s suspension

Sammy Guevara could soon be back in All Elite Wrestling.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Guevara is officially no longer suspended from AEW. Plans have been made for his return to AEW programming, but there is currently no information on when AEW will include him in storylines again.

Guevara has been suspended since February after his No DQ match with Jeff Hardy was taped on February 14th. In the closing stages of the match, Guevara broke Hardy’s nose after his leg hit Hardy in the face following a botched Shooting Star Press. The move put Hardy in the concussion protocol and Guevara was suspended for hitting Jeff with his GTH finisher after being told to pin him.

There was sympathy for Guevara within AEW and he was defended within the company as many believed that what happened in the final moments of the match was simply a miscommunication. Meanwhile, fans wondered why the referee or AEW’s medical team didn’t simply wave off the match if Jeff Hardy suffered a concussion.

Jeff remains away from AEW TV, although he was recently cleared to return. His future with the promotion is currently uncertain as his contract expires sometime this spring.
