Tracking the warming trend and keeping an eye on the tropics – 104.5 WOKV

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – First Alert meteorologist Corey Simma is monitoring the weather.

There was little rain in the metro today, with the heaviest rain inland. The only rain in the area at 5:30 p.m. was west of Highway 301 near I-75.

It is quite pleasant outside, but there is a light wind, especially near the coast.

The onshore wind will continue tonight and tomorrow, so there may be isolated showers on the beach overnight.

Rain and storms will move inland again on Monday, but isolated showers may occur near Highway 301 after sunset.

The risk of storms will gradually increase towards the end of the week with offshore winds. These westerly winds will push our temperatures back above 35 degrees by mid to late week.

Our local weather next weekend depends a bit on the tropics.

We’ll be monitoring the Atlantic for developments this week. There’s practically nothing to watch at the moment.

This disturbance is forecast to occur near the Caribbean and the Bahamas during the middle of the week.

The distance and intensity of long-term tracks vary greatly from the Gulf of Mexico to the Western Atlantic and from a weak disturbance to a hurricane.

There is a lot we don’t know, and we won’t know much until these unrests are better organized.

The position of the storm will impact our local weather.
