Jordan Thompson and Yoshihito Nishioka were engaged in a tight championship match at the Atlanta Open on Sunday afternoon when rain began to fall, suspending the match with Thompson leading 6-4, 4-5. Play is not scheduled to resume until 6:30 p.m. local time.

Thompson will serve to stay in the second set when play resumes. The 30-year-old is aiming for his second tour title of the season, having also won in Los Cabos.

If Thompson wins, it will be his first victory over Japan’s Nishioka, who leads the Lexus ATP Head2Head series 4-0. The Australian would also reach a new personal best of 29th in Monday’s PIF ATP rankings.

Nishioka, 28, is seeking his third tour title and first since Seoul in 2022.
