Van found in Saugus River on Friday, police say – NBC Boston

A van was found in the Saugus River Friday morning, officials said. However, it was not immediately clear whether there was anyone inside.

According to the department, Saugus police were first alerted to the vehicle in the water by a 911 call around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The caller saw taillights in the water.

Police, firefighters and diving teams searched overnight and finally found the van around 7 a.m., police said.

Due to the tides and sediment in the river, it was initially unclear whether anyone was in the vehicle. Divers continued the search Friday morning.
