Incident in Franklin County: Suspect suffers minor injuries during arrest

During a police operation in Franklin County on July 27, Brett Daniel Crone, 43, of Greencastle, was arrested and suffered a minor injury when an officer’s gun accidentally discharged. The incident occurred during a coordinated effort to arrest Crone on a warrant for witness intimidation.

State police reported that the incident followed their previous interaction with Crone when they served him with a protective order against abuse. Later that evening, around 8:40 p.m., Crone was observed driving by police near Dresden Circle and Wedgewood Drive in Antrim Township. When Crone failed to comply with a traffic stop, a brief chase ensued. The pursuit ended near Camden Drive at Essex Circle, where Crone was taken into custody.

During the arrest, an accident occurred in which one of the police officers involved fired a firearm, injuring Crone. Fortunately, none of the police officers were injured in the incident.

Following his arrest, Crone was booked into the Franklin County Jail on an outstanding York County warrant. Troop H’s Major Case Team has taken over the ongoing investigation to further examine the details of the arrest and discharge of the firearm.
