10-year-old child and 21-year-old woman killed in accident in Randolph County

RANDOLPH COUNTY – A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:07 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, has claimed the lives of an Anniston woman and a 10-year-old child, according to Senior Trooper Vu Quang of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

“Serinity N. Richmond, 21, was fatally injured when the 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 she was driving was struck by the 2017 Ram 1500 driven by Tyson D. McCarthy, 20, of Pell City,” Quang said.Richmond was pronounced dead at the scene. McCarthy was seriously injured and flown by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia for treatment.”

Quang said the 10-year-old passenger in the Nissan Altima was also seriously injured and was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital, where the teenager succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The accident occurred on US 431 near the 200 mile marker. about 10 miles north of Wedowee in Randolph County.

No further information is available as ALEA Highway Patrol Division officers continue their investigation.
