Creekside Middle School teacher among three dead in fiery NSB accident

Three people, including a Creekside Middle School teacher and his wife, died in a serious accident in New Smyrna Beach when a car collided with a motorcycle, police said.

According to New Smyrna Beach police, the accident occurred around 8:35 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of US 1 and Inlet Shores Drive.

According to a social media post from Rep. Chase Tramont and a statement from Creekside Middle School and police, Matt and Fawne Cindric were the couple killed in the crash. He was 42 and she was 45.

“The Creekside Middle School family and Volusia County Schools are heartbroken over the loss of Matt Cindric, a beloved teacher, and his wife in a tragic car accident. I had the privilege of working with Matt for the past six years while I was principal at Creekside and I can tell you this loss is very difficult as Matt was part of the heartbeat of this school. He was a fixture as a youth referee and umpire and influenced our children not only in the classroom but on the field and courts as well. The entire Port Orange community mourns the loss of this loving couple,” the statement from the school’s Chief of Staff John Cash said.
