Franklin County man fled from police officer and was arrested after being shot

ANTRIM TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) – A man is in custody after fleeing from police to avoid a felony warrant, according to state police.

According to a press release from the Pennsylvania State Police Chambersburg, on July 27, 2024, authorities were called by the Northern York Police Department to serve a warrant on Brett Daniel Crone, 43, of Greencastle, for intimidation of a victim/witness. State police say officers knew Crone, as they had served him with a restraining order to protect against abuse a few hours earlier.


According to state police, Crone was spotted in his vehicle in the area of ​​Dresden Circle and Wedgewood Drive in Antrim Township around 8:40 p.m. An attempt was made to make a traffic stop, but Crone disobeyed the order and police began pursuit.

Officers were able to track down Crone and arrest him in the area of ​​Camden Drive at Essex Circle. State police said a single shot was fired from an officer’s pistol during Crone’s arrest. None of the officers were injured, and Crone suffered minor injuries during the arrest.

Crone was booked into the Franklin County Jail on a York County warrant.

The investigation is ongoing.
