Twelfth child confirmed dead after Hezbollah attack on Majdal Shams

Gajafara Ibrahim, 11, is confirmed to be the 12th child killed in Saturday’s Hezbollah attack on Majdal Shams, Israeli media reported on Sunday.

After Ibrahim was reported missing for over 30 hours, his family was informed that Ibrahim was killed on Saturday at the soccer field in the Druze village in the Upper Galilee.

“With tears we accept God’s will and the bitter news of Gjafaras Ibrahim’s death,” said the Majdal Shams community in response to the announcement.

A council employee who was on site on Saturday said: Ynet on Sunday: “The bullet probably hit him directly. The football coach said he was definitely with the entire group of injured children.”

“I saw terrible things. It was horrible.”

“I still can’t understand what happened here and what happened to me. I can’t believe it,” said Joan Willy (14), who was on the soccer field with his killed friends at the time of the explosion.

Although he was injured by shrapnel, Willy attended his friend’s funeral and told Ynet: “I heard the siren and didn’t know what to do because (my) friends didn’t want to go into the shelter because we are used to constant sirens and some people go out to film the interception maneuvers.”

“I always run to the shelter, but this time I was standing in front of it and suddenly there was a huge explosion and I fell to the ground. Everyone around me was screaming in pain,” he continued.

“It took a while to get back on my feet and I was in shock. My legs were injured by shrapnel and I couldn’t move. It was only after a few moments that I could walk again and then I saw terrible things. It was horrible, everything was covered in blood.”
