Man killed in motorcycle accident in Stockton

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle in the far left lane at 80 miles per hour before colliding with a vehicle.

STOCKTON, California – According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a motorcyclist was killed in an accident in Stockton on Saturday evening.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., a 56-year-old man was driving a 2017 Harley Davidson southbound on Highway 99, south of Wilson Way, at 80 mph in the far left lane, according to CHP Stockton spokesman Angel Arceo.

A 43-year-old woman was driving a 2022 Toyota at 65 mph in the adjacent lane next to the motorcyclist, CHP said. She reportedly had two passengers in their 70s in the car.

According to the CHP, the motorcyclist reportedly changed lanes while driving at an unsafe speed and drove directly behind the Toyota.

The motorcyclist braked hard, lost control of his motorcycle and struck the rear of the Toyota, police officials said. The motorcycle then collided with the roadway and the man was ejected, authorities said.

He suffered fatal injuries in the accident and his motorcycle came to a stop in lane 3, police said.

Authorities said the Toyota came to a stop on the right shoulder of the road. The driver and two passengers were wearing seat belts and suffered no injuries. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, CHP said.

According to the CHP, alcohol is believed to have played a role.
