Kogi PDP suspends district congress indefinitely as thugs invade secretariat

The Kogi State Transitional Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Senator Danjuma Laah has postponed the party’s state convention scheduled for Saturday.

The interim committee said the decision to suspend the district congress became necessary when gangsters broke into the state secretariat and stole sensitive election materials.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the committee’s spokesman, Dayo Akande, the decision was taken in collaboration with the chairman of the congressional committee, Boyelayefa Debeleme.

According to the statement, the fraudsters arrived in an 18-seater bus and other vehicles and did not have any identification documents.

“All this was done in the presence of the INEC observer. These unauthorized persons disappeared with all confidential materials meant for the Congress in the 239 wards of the 21 LGA areas of the state,” the statement said.

The Committee condemned the act and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and other institutions to ignore any alleged result that might result from this illegal measure.
