Teenager killed in traffic accident

Kolkata: A teenager was killed in a road accident on the Garden Reach flyover on Sunday afternoon.

According to sources, the boy, aged around 16, a resident of Metiabruz area, was riding a motorcycle along the Garden Reach flyover at around 1.50pm on Sunday.

When he reached the middle of the overpass, the boy somehow lost control of the motorcycle and the two-wheeler crashed into the central barrier.

As a result, the minor fell on the road and the motorcycle also slid several meters away.

Some drivers of other cars noticed the accident and informed the police.

Police took the boy to SSKM Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As the police learned, the motorcycle belongs to the boy’s older brother.

He reportedly told the cops that he did not know that his brother had taken the two-wheeler from him. Controversy arose over how a boy could ride the two-wheeler without being intercepted by the traffic police before using the Garden Reach flyover.

A case was registered at the West Port Police Station.
