3 people from Lansing arrested after police chase

LANSING, Michigan (WLNS) – Police plan to file charges against three Lansing people after they participated in a chase through Livingston County.

6 News Media Partners WHMI has reported that Livingston County officers first spotted a white Dodge Challenger that had been reported stolen in Grand Rapids early Saturday morning. Officers then began a pursuit on I-96 near M-59.

The driver led the chase at 125 mph and left the track near Latson, where officers lost the car. A Michigan State Police patrol officer soon spotted the white Challenger heading east on I-96. Brighton police attempted to stop the driver, but he sped off again and lost officers in Hartland Township.

Shortly afterward, someone called 911 to report that the white Challenger was parked in the village of Hartland. Another person told officers that they saw three people walking east from the car.

Officers then set up a perimeter, and a Livingston County deputy located the three individuals as they emerged from behind a garage at a Hartland elementary school.

WHMI reports that the suspects ignored the deputy’s initial instructions before backup arrived and arrested the three people.

Authorities are seeking to charge the driver of the white Challenger, a 29-year-old Lansing man, with fleeing and eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, child abuse and resisting arrest, WHMI reported.

They also want to charge a 26-year-old Lansing man with possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest, and a 58-year-old Lansing woman with driving without insurance.
