DTM Sudan Flash Alert: Heavy Rainfall and Flooding in Al Koma Township, North Darfur (Update One) July 28, 2024 – Sudan

DTM Sudan’s early warning and flash alerts provide immediate updates on incidents and sudden displacement in Sudan.

On 26 July 2024, heavy rains and flooding displaced an estimated 107 households in Al Koma township in North Darfur. Response teams reported that the rains mainly affected the towns of Al Koma and Ghibaish. In Al Koma township, an estimated 85 houses were reportedly completely destroyed and 35 partially destroyed. In Ghibash village, 22 houses were completely destroyed and 13 houses partially destroyed. Response teams reported that the displaced households sought refuge with host communities in the same township.
