More isolated showers today, high heat index values ​​this week

(KFVS) – Scattered showers and thunderstorms overnight left the Heartland soaked and a bit foggy this morning – but the rain isn’t quite over yet.

Meghan Smith says that while last night’s system has weakened, we could see new development this afternoon. That means more isolated thunderstorms are possible, bringing the risk of heavy downpours, lightning, gusty winds and localized flooding.

However, in the evening hours the region will appear significantly drier.

Expect mostly cloudy skies today with lows around 25 degrees and highs around 29 degrees.

On Monday, we could see some small, isolated storms early in the morning. These storms can bring gusty winds, so there is currently only a slight risk of severe weather for the Heartland.

Temperatures and dew points will rise over the coming week. This will lead to an increase in heat levels, especially from Tuesday to Thursday. Heat warnings will be possible as heat index values ​​could exceed 40 degrees in some places.
