Tipton man seriously injured in ATV accident in Cooper County, two people arrested

COOPER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Tipton man was seriously injured in a crash in Cooper County Saturday night, and he and another man were later arrested, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, the crash occurred on eastbound Tuttle Road around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. Grant Petree, 45, of Tipton was operating a 2023 Honda ATV with passenger Timothy Brink, 30, of Tipton when Petree failed to navigate and negotiate a turn, veered off the right side of the road and overturned.

According to the report, Petree was flown by helicopter to University Hospital with serious injuries. Brink suffered moderate injuries and was taken to University Hospital by Cooper County ambulance.

Petree was later arrested and charged with drunken driving resulting in injury and careless and reckless driving, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol arrest report. Brink was arrested and charged with drunken driving, according to another Highway Patrol arrest report.

According to arrest reports, both men were released from police custody. The accident report states that neither man was wearing a helmet.
