Woman sexually assaulted during hot burglary spree in Los Angeles

Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department are investigating several residential burglaries in the East Hollywood and Silver Lake neighborhoods.

According to a public alert from the LAPD’s Northeast Division, the break-ins occurred early Friday morning.


“We have experienced a number of residential burglaries over the past 24 hours, one of which resulted in an assault on a female victim,” the LAPD said on X, with Central Bureau Deputy Chief of Operations Lillian L. Carranza confirming that the sexual assault suspect attacked the victim in her bedroom while she was sleeping.

Although the exact times and locations of the break-ins and robberies were not immediately released, Citizen App reports indicate that two break-ins were reported on the same block of Manzanita Street near Fountain Avenue.

A resident of the nearby Atwater neighborhood provided KTLA with footage from a Ring doorbell camera showing a man kicking in the front door of her home. The resident said this was the suspect’s eighth break-in attempt, but he was able to get in the first time.

The resident also told KTLA that they were able to get the man out of their home and call police, but that they were understandably still shaken.

Police are asking residents in the area to turn on all outdoor lights, lock all windows and doors and be alert for suspicious people or vehicles.. To report suspicious activity, call 911.
