MLB trade rumors reveal Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros seeking All-Star slugger

The MLB trade deadline is just hours away and a few All-Star players have already been traded, including Jazz Chisholm Jr. As the race in the American League heats up, the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros are all linked to the same All-Star in MLB trade rumors.

It’s no surprise that the American League West contenders have holes to fill. Houston was one of the worst teams in baseball through June, while Seattle blew a 10-game lead in the division. As for Texas, it’s still working its way back to a winning record and still won’t be there by the MLB trade deadline.

While all three teams have struggled, they are all buyers. Seattle has reached a deal for Tampa Bay Rays All-Star outfielder Randy Arozarena. Meanwhile, Texas and Houston have been linked to various contributors in MLB trade rumors. With just hours to go until the deadline, the AL West rivals could face off in a bidding war for an All-Star slugger.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Rays are willing to listen to trade offers for All-Star first baseman Yandy Diaz. With the veteran slugger available, the Astros, Mariners and Pittsburgh Pirates are considered likely places to find a player.

Meanwhile, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Rangers are also interested in Diaz. It’s unclear how extensive the trade talks between Tampa Bay and other clubs regarding Diaz are. A deal is more likely, however, after the Rays traded away several starting pitchers.

Diaz, 32, was a first-time All-Star last year and finished as the American League batting champion. While he hasn’t matched his batting average from last season, the right-handed hitter is batting above .300 this summer. He also has an .839 OPS over the last three seasons.

Under contract through 2026, with a $10 million salary next year and a $12 million club option for 2026, Diaz’s contract makes him even more valuable. If he is traded, Tampa Bay will get several top prospects in the deal.
