1 dead in shooting in food court area of ​​Maryland mall

COLUMBIA, Maryland — A shooting at a mall in suburban Baltimore and Washington left one person dead Saturday, police said.

Authorities received a 911 call around 6:10 p.m. after shots were fired in the food court of a mall in Columbia, Maryland. Officers found a male victim who had been fatally shot, Howard County police said.

Police determined that those involved in the shooting had fled the mall, and detectives believe the victim’s death was a targeted maneuver.

Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing.

The mall was also the scene of a shooting in January 2014 in which three people died after a man with a shotgun killed two people and then himself.
