Witnesses block hit-and-run suspect who hit cyclist until police arrive

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri (KCTV) – Independence police reported a hit-and-run accident Saturday that left a pedestrian seriously injured.

The accident occurred on July 27 shortly before 7:30 p.m. near Noland Road and Noland Court.

According to IPD, the driver of a Ford Edge was pulling out of a private driveway when he struck a bicyclist. The Ford did not stop and continued north on Noland Road.

Several witnesses reportedly saw the accident, followed the Ford, blocked it and called 911 until police arrived and arrested the driver.

The cyclist was taken to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.

Independence police said the case remains under investigation. The identities of the victim and suspect have not been released.
