The driver and passenger got out of the car to see what was wrong, but the passenger then got back in while the driver continued to inspect the vehicle. That’s when Sgt. Dallas of the Houston Police Department’s Vehicle Crimes Division said another driver, likely in a van, rear-ended the Uber driver’s car.

Sergeant Dallas noted that the crash caused the car to crash into the unidentified driver, killing him.
