Highway closed due to accident Friday morning – ButlerRadio.com

The turnpike in Cranberry Township was closed in a construction zone early Friday morning after a multi-vehicle accident occurred.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m., the Butler County Emergency Operations Center received a call about an accident involving two semi-trailers near mile marker 25 in the westbound lane of the Turnpike.

The accident occurred near a construction site as the semi-trailer attempted to approach the site at the last second, official documents show. The semi-trailer in the right lane was traveling at the speed limit and was struck by the trailer attempting to merge.

There were no injuries in the accident, but a vehicle parked in the construction zone was also damaged. The driver who attempted to merge was charged with reckless driving.

After just over two hours, the motorway was reopened.
