Hong Kong police investigate suspected murder after man found dead near busy street

The case was initially classified as manslaughter, but police have since treated it as a suspected murder.

According to police, the man’s face was discolored when he was found.

The investigation is being carried out by the Yau Tsim District Criminal Investigation Department.

Last Wednesday, a 57-year-old woman died while her 66-year-old husband, a businessman, fought for his life after he set fire to their Mid-Levels apartment, allegedly over perceived marital problems. Police classified the incident as attempted murder followed by suicide.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested in June after allegedly killing her husband with a 12-inch fruit knife as he slept on the couch before attempting to take her own life.

That same month, a 59-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death of his girlfriend, who allegedly lost consciousness when she fell to the ground during a domestic dispute and suffered a head injury.

In May, a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after allegedly getting into an argument with his 50-year-old father, who later died from injuries including an 8-centimeter wound to the head.
