In the footsteps of the tropics:

After a quiet second half of July, the tropics could wake up late next week. There is a 40% chance that a tropical wave will develop in the Atlantic over the next 7 days. The wave is entering an area with less Saharan dust and little wind shear, giving the wave a chance to develop. If it becomes a tropical storm, it will become Debby.

There is a 40% chance that a tropical wave will develop into a tropical system within the next 7 days.

There is a 10% chance it will become a hurricane near Florida on August 5, with tropical storm development more likely.

10% chance the East Coast will experience hurricane-force winds
The risk of tropical storms is increasing along the East Coast from Florida to the Carolinas.
