As IMD predicts less rain, no warning for Mumbai for the next three days | Mumbai News

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Mumbai said on Sunday afternoon that rains are likely to decrease in the next week. While the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai for Saturday and Sunday, there is no alert for the period from July 29 (Monday) to July 31 (Wednesday).

An orange alert has been issued for Raigad district for Monday, while a yellow alert has been issued for Thane, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts for the next 24 hours.

“The monsoon is not very strong at present, so Mumbai will not experience heavy rains. However, southwesterly and westerly winds will continue to blow. This may result in light to moderate rains in Mumbai,” Sunil Kamble, director of IMD in Mumbai, told The Indian Express on Sunday afternoon.

In the 24-hour cycle ending at 8.25 am on Sunday morning, IMD’s Santacruz observatory recorded 9 mm of rain while the coastal observatory in Colaba recorded 4 mm.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporations’ automatic weather station recorded an average of 5 mm rainfall in the western suburbs, 11 mm in the island city and 8 mm in the eastern suburbs.
