6-year-old boy from Carthage killed in accident at Table Rock Lake

A six-year-old boy from Carthage was killed in an accident on Table Rock Lake south of Hollister at 11:11 a.m. Friday.

According to the Highway Patrol report, the boy fell from a kneeboard located behind an open 1999 Maxum powerboat in Clevenger Cove on Table Rock Lake. When the driver, Bethany Roy, 31, of Carthage, attempted to return to the boy, the boy swam to the stern of the boat and was struck by the boat’s propeller while the boat was still reversing.

Taney County Deputy Coroner Elijah Goodwin pronounced the boy dead at the scene.
