More heavy rain and storms this weekend

Expect partly sunny skies today with scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. Precipitation will be limited to areas primarily west of I-65, but any thunderstorms that develop will produce heavy rain. No severe weather is expected, but thunderstorms may also bring gusty winds and frequent lightning. Highs will reach 30 to 40 degrees Celsius, and rain chances will decrease during the evening hours. Skies will remain mostly cloudy overnight, with lows remaining mild and muggy at 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Sunday is a 48-day weather day of very heavy rain and severe storms. Heavy rain, gusty winds and dangerous lightning are expected, with thunderstorms becoming widespread during the afternoon and early evening. High temperatures will return to the mid and upper 80s, with rainfall amounts likely to be between 1 and 2 inches across the area. Any slow-moving thunderstorms will increase the risk of flash flooding, so please use caution on the roads and prepare for multiple delays and disruptions to all outdoor activities.

More rain and storms are forecast for Monday, with highs rising to 30 to 40 degrees. Heavy rain will be expected at times and strong gales are possible locally, so stay alert! Most areas will see a break in the wet weather during the evening hours, with overnight lows falling back to 21 to 25 degrees. Another wave of storms will arrive on Tuesday, before the chance of daily rain and storms decreases by the middle of next week. Expect a drier and much hotter trend for the rest of the week, with highs of 35 to 35 degrees and heat indices above 38 degrees.
