Two-car accident in Geneva leads to injuries and criminal charges

A two-car collision on the afternoon of May 9 resulted in minor injuries and a citation. Ontario County officers, along with Finger Lakes Ambulance and local fire departments, responded to the incident at the intersection of County Road 6 and Billsboro Road in the town of Geneva.

The accident occurred when Elaine Cervantes, 77, of Fairport, attempted to cross County Road 6 eastbound after stopping but Shelley Hyde, 69, of Geneva, who was approaching from the south, failed to yield. Hyde and her two passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Geneva General Hospital.

Cervantes, who was examined at the scene by emergency medical services, refused further treatment. She was then cited for failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
